Customize before publishing. This is a starting point — your statement should reflect actual conformance, real contact channels, and your real remediation cadence. The Known Limitations section especially: honest disclosure is far stronger legally than no statement at all, and stronger than an unrealistic claim.
Why publish a statement
A statement does three things at once.
- EAA compliance. The European Accessibility Act (enforced June 2025) explicitly requires an accessibility statement for services in scope. EN 301 549 Annex A provides the template format.
- ADA defense posture. US plaintiff firms routinely cite the absence of an accessibility statement as evidence of inattention. A current, public, responsive statement materially changes the cost economics of an ADA web case.
- Procurement signal. Federal and enterprise procurement teams look for a published accessibility statement as a positive signal in vendor selection — even when Section 508 / EAA does not strictly apply.
Audit your site before publishing the statement.
An accessibility statement claiming WCAG 2.2 AA conformance must be backed by an actual audit. AccessProof produces the dated PDF evidence.
