Why Level Access customers switch to AccessProof
Level Access bundles a SaaS platform with mandatory consulting and managed services contracts. AccessProof gives you the audit tool — clean, self-serve, $0-$199/mo — and lets your team own the remediation.

You don't need a consulting retainer to know what to fix.
Level Access (formerly eSSENTIAL Accessibility) positions itself as a "complete accessibility solution" — a SaaS platform plus expert consulting plus VPAT/ACR services plus user testing. The model assumes you want a hand-held managed program, not a tool.
For engineering teams that already have a developer who can read a list of WCAG violations and ship fixes, the consulting layer is overhead. You're paying $30k-$100k+ per year for guidance on top of a tool — guidance you may not need if you have a competent front-end team and an axe-core report.
AccessProof inverts the model: a great audit tool, no consulting attached. We give you the same axe-core 4.9.1 rule set, a timestamped PDF, the WCAG criterion citations, and the per-element selectors. Your team handles the fixes. Pay for the tool, not the services tail.

Audits, not band-aids.
Vendored axe-core 4.9.1
We ship the audit engine ourselves. Same rule set used by Deque, GOV.UK, and the W3C — 90+ rules across WCAG 2.2 A/AA/AAA, Section 508, EN 301 549.
Court-ready timestamped PDFs
Each scan produces a signed PDF with site URL, scan time (UTC), exact element selectors, WCAG criterion citations, and remediation steps. Designed to be admissible.
Scheduled scans, regression alerts
Daily, weekly, or hourly cadence. Email + Slack + webhook alerts when a regression introduces a new critical or serious issue.
Multi-site, multi-tenant
One dashboard for a portfolio. Agencies manage 25+ clients on a single Pro account; enterprises run unlimited sites on Business.
REST API + CI/CD gate
Block deploys with an accessibility threshold in your pipeline. POST a URL, get JSON back with violations, score, and a fail/pass gate.
No JavaScript on your site
AccessProof does not inject anything into your pages. We render them in Chromium and inspect — your DOM stays exactly as your team built it.
Pay for an audit, not a widget.

Level Access does not publish list prices. Public procurement records and industry sources commonly cite engagements in the $30,000 – $100,000+ annual range, bundling platform access with consulting, VPAT services, and managed remediation programs.

Questions we hear from Level Access customers.
Is AccessProof a replacement for Level Access services?
AccessProof replaces the audit-tool portion of Level Access — not the consulting, manual testing, or VPAT-as-a-service work. If you need a human accessibility consultant to advise your design system, AccessProof is not that. If you need a fast, defensible, automated audit your engineers can act on, AccessProof is that.
When does it make sense to switch from Level Access?
Most switchers are teams that started with Level Access services for an initial VPAT or remediation push, then realized their engineers can read an axe-core report and ship fixes without ongoing consulting. They keep Level Access for the once-a-year VPAT update and use AccessProof for continuous CI/CD audits at $29-$199/mo.
Does AccessProof generate VPATs?
AccessProof produces a timestamped PDF report with full WCAG criterion mapping, per-element selectors, and remediation steps. It is admissible as evidence in an ADA case and meets the substance requirements of a VPAT/ACR audit trail. The formal VPAT document itself (ITI/INCITS template) is a procurement artifact you can generate from the report; we do not currently sell VPAT formatting as a service.
What about manual testing for cognitive and motor accessibility?
Automated scans (axe-core) catch about 30-40% of WCAG issues — primarily structural and visual ones. Cognitive, motor, and context-of-use issues require manual testing. AccessProof flags the automatable ones and notes the manual checklist categories that should follow. We do not sell manual testing services; teams that need them typically pair AccessProof with a freelance accessibility specialist on a per-release basis.
